Mark Holland Priorities
1. Affordable Housing That Works for Us
Housing should be truly affordable—not just in name. The current affordability standards (AMI-based models) are out of touch with what working families can actually afford.
✅ Hold developers accountable—no more tax incentives without guaranteed affordable units.
✅ Reevaluate affordability metrics to align with actual household incomes in District #6.
✅ Expand homeownership programs for first-time buyers and working families.
✅ Increase rental protections to prevent displacement and gentrification.
✅ Strengthen resources for seniors who need stable and affordable housing options.
2. Real Solutions for Homelessness
I have led efforts to provide 110,000+ free meals to seniors and families in need, but we need long-term solutions to address housing insecurity and homelessness in Chattanooga.
✅ Expand transitional & affordable housing with wraparound services for job placement, mental health, and addiction recovery.
✅ Increase funding for emergency housing programs to ensure families and individuals aren’t left without options.
✅ Work with local businesses & organizations to create job opportunities for those experiencing homelessness.
3. Economic Growth & Small Business Support
Minority and women-owned businesses are the economic backbone of District #6. Yet, they struggle with access to funding, fair contracts, and affordable commercial space.
✅ Expand grant & loan programs to help small businesses start and scale.
✅ Ensure city contracts prioritize minority-owned businesses to create economic opportunities.
✅ Streamline business licensing & permitting to cut unnecessary red tape.
✅ Protect local businesses from predatory leasing practices that force them out of their communities.
4. Infrastructure & Safer Neighborhoods
District #6 needs serious infrastructure improvements, from better roads and sidewalks to stronger public safety initiatives.
✅ Repair neglected roads and sidewalks to improve accessibility.
✅ Invest in public safety initiatives that build community trust and reduce crime.
✅ Expand youth programs & mentorship opportunities to keep young people engaged and on the right path.
✅ Enhance public transportation options to connect residents to jobs, healthcare, and education.
5. Stronger Community Engagement & Advocacy
District #6 deserves a City Council member who listens and takes action. I will ensure your voice is heardat every level of decision-making.
✅ Host regular town halls & community meetings—because leadership should be accessible.
✅ Advocate for policies that uplift working families, seniors, and small business owners.
✅ Ensure transparency in government spending—your tax dollars should benefit our community.
